The Bible records an interesting story; when Jesus was asked a question about what real love looked like. He answered with the story of the Good Samaritan.

“There was a man who was beaten, robbed and left to die. A priest and a Levite two religious men saw his condition but ignored him. Apparently, they had other things to do. But help came from someone else. Jesus added, “But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion.” He may have been an average man, but there was nothing average about the way that he cared. He bound the victim’s wounds, gave him a ride to the nearest inn, and promised to pay all expenses.

Think of it, for nearly 2,000 years, when someone does an unexpected good deed we refer to him as a Good Samaritan. such is the lasting power of deeds of kindness expressed by the average man. In this story, one can point out the following; Love, Care, Sacrifice and Risk. In a similar manner, we know the devil has put a lot of strategies in place, packaged on television especially the social media to distract youths from God.

The founder of Father’s Love Forum, Major General BO Ogunkale is a military personnel who understands strategy, decides to put a superior strategy called the RTW which is an acronym for Reading, Teaching and Welfare; in place for the youth to see, after all, all the things they are wrongly pursuing in the world can be found in God. This was why through the help of the Holy Spirit, the founder mapped out a means of equipping youths against all forms of distractions which can hinder them from attaining their God’s given destiny. These strategies have been one amongst many of the pillars that have helped youths in the forum to abide and bear fruits. These strategies have expatiated below;

READING:

The bible says in Revelation 1:3 “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written therein. Also, Joshua 1:8 says “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous and then you shall have good success.

You cannot meditate on the Word without first reading it. The effect of meditating on the word of God and speaking it is so that we may “observe to do according to all that it is written therein”. The founder out of his studious habit saw it needful to impart the members with a consistent reading culture as it is one of the tools for exploits in life. He stimulated members reading culture by establishing a library for the forum. The members also use the library materials to prepare for the fourth nightly meetings i.e for those appointed to speak during the program.

Furthermore, it is an established law in the forum for the librarian to read at least 50 books before the end of NYSC. While a minimum of 10 books is a mandate for other members of the executive. This approach has helped improve the reading habit of members and diverse testimonies have sprung up as a result. Some of the beneficiaries like Dubem Nganyadi upon his send forth was able to set up a mini library in his residence with the books he received. Also, Dinchi Gwamzhi, was able to access her total health package from one of the books giving to her by Gen. Ogunkale during one of his visits to the forum. Members are expected to write a book as part of their project in the course of their service year. This has tremendously improved their grasp of the scripture and study habits.

The spiritual gift of teaching is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:6–8; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:1–12). It is a gift given by the Holy Spirit, enabling one to effectively communicate the truths of the Bible to others. The gift of teaching involves the analysis and proclamation of the Word of God, explaining the meaning, context, and application to the hearer’s life.

God gave spiritual gifts to edify His church. Paul instructed the church at Corinth to seek to edify and build up the body of Christ, telling them that since they were “eager” to have spiritual gifts, they should “try to excel in spiritual gifts that can help build up the church” (1 Corinthians 14:12).

The founder is a gifted teacher through the help of the Holy Spirit. He, engages members of the forum on several hours of lectures tagged “The Masters Life Discipleship lessons” with topics such as the disciples cross, the disciples personality, the disciples victory, the disciples mission, Holy Spirit, Success in a catastrophic world, Success systems, Eyes for details, What is needful etc. During such lectures on every occasion of his visit, he places emphasis on their spiritual growth with priority attention given to prayers and evangelistic outreaches. This strategy has made them fervent in kingdom service and has built their faith in Christ

The well-being and social support of the members of Father’s Love Forum has always been in the heart of the founder from inception. This is because; he is a man with the heart of God who makes sure anyone he comes in contact with is impacted both physically and spiritually. The welfare packages he puts in place comes in different categories which meet diverse needs both in his absence and presence

FEEDING:

The ministry of feeding has being in existence as far the time of Jesus Christ and the Apostles. The book of Matthew 14:13-21 narrates the Feeding of the 5,000 which is also known as the “miracle of the five loaves and two fish. Jesus, saw the people in need and he said in verse 16 “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” This miracle is also a great reminder that nothing we face here on earth is too big for God. Even standing with the King of kings, Christ’s disciples were worried that thousands of people would go hungry. No matter what we face, we must remember that God can provide all our needs and He is capable of sustaining anything that advances his kingdom. In the light of this, the founder of the forum made some provisions to motivate members of the forum by slating free breakfast for them every Saturdays. This has brought unity and love amongst members of the forum irrespective of their tribe or religion.  This has been a blessing to all corp members in the forum.

TRANSPORTATION:

The members of FLF usually attend mid-week and Sunday Church services in town which is a few kilometres away from NASME barracks in Makurdi. The problem associated with this is the stress in accessing transportation outside the barracks particularly over the weekend. While the founder was still with them in Makurdi, he practically conveys them with his vehicles and other hired vehicles to and from church, but when he was posted out of NASME, The Reality of the burden of transportation became too glaring. Notwithstanding, the General always made adequate provision for transportation of members to and from the church even in his absence. God in His faithfulness and commitment to the forum supernaturally blessed the forum with a 14 seater bus and this took care of every transportation-related challenge. Ever since the church attendance has increased.

Men by nature like to give excuses. For instance, some invitees excuse for not attending church service could be, lack of offering or transport fare. In order to do the needful, we have to make the sacrifice.  As you cannot separate the fish from the water, so also you can’t separate General Ogunkale, from giving. It has been a culture for him to support his children (mentees) in different areas. One amongst many is his show of love via giving. whenever he visits the FLF members in Makurdi, he usually makes available church offerings for the treasurer to give the members on weekly basis. He has established a tailor who is also one of his mentees in Abuja to show Ankara dress for all the members of the forum which he shares during his visits. These give identity to the members and also foster unity amongst them. What a strategy to win souls to the kingdom of God; though it costs a lot, but it is nothing compared to the joy of winning souls for Christ and the profit therein.

It is not enough merely to lead a soul to Christ; it is very important that he/she be guided on how to live a Christian life. The Holy Spirit is the greatest One can follow up. And you can be sure He does follow up each convert. This does not mean however that a soul winner should not do all he can to help a new convert become established and grow. General Ogunkale who is a tireless soul winner made sure he keeps in touch with all his mentees as well as the FLF members. Some such strategies include; inspirational text messages on a daily basis (which some use for morning devotion), giving them Christian kinds of literature and inspirational books, phone calls and visits. This has been impactful as diverse testimonies have sprung forth in line with this conscious and consistent action.

These are but a few amongst many things that the founder has been doing to spice up the forum, and has since been yielding results to the glory of God.

The Bible says in Psalm 90:17 Let the favour of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands! Also Acts 11:21  says and the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord. To God alone be the glory Father’s Love Forum is now stationed in about four (4) cities in Nigeria and in diverse countries. Praise be to God!

SITTING ALLOWANCE:

On every occasion of the founder’s visits, he takes out time to teach them on diverse topics which can help nurture them in faith. This teaching takes several hours and after which, sitting allowance alongside refreshments and transportation are given to participants.
